The leaders also revisited discussions on United Nations Security Council reform, with President Biden reiterating U.S. support for two permanent seats for Africa, suggesting Nigeria as a leading candidate due to its influence in the region. As President Biden nears the end of his term, the call included reflections on their shared meetings, including at the G20, where Nigeria is advocating for full membership.
Ambassador Tuggar underscored that Nigeria remains committed to the rule of law and diplomatic transparency, a principle echoed by both leaders during the call. Additionally, both sides look forward to enhanced cooperation in artificial intelligence, with President Biden mentioning an upcoming AI event in Lagos, highlighting opportunities for technological advancement and training facilitated by U.S.-Nigeria collaboration.
