Governor Sule conveyed these sentiments while delivering a keynote address as the distinguished guest at the West African Social Activities (WASA) event for the year 2024, held at the 4 Special Forces Fitness/Sports Centre, Doma Barracks, in the Doma Local Government Area on Saturday.

Governor Sule emphasized the significance of occasions such as WASA in recognizing the invaluable contributions of security agencies to maintaining law and order, underscoring the noteworthy role played by the Nigerian Army in various peacekeeping endeavors globally, resulting in commendable triumphs documented both domestically and internationally. Despite encountering formidable challenges throughout the preceding year, Governor Sule lauded the collective resolve and sacrifices of the armed forces, in tandem with allied security bodies, which facilitated significant advancements, particularly in the North Central region, thus fostering notable achievements within Nasarawa State and nationwide.
Acknowledging the sacrifices made by gallant officers who paid the ultimate price in service to the nation, Governor Sule extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, recognizing their immeasurable contributions to national security. In a demonstration of the state’s unwavering support, Governor Sule announced a generous donation of twenty million naira on behalf of the government and people of Nasarawa State. Additionally, he pledged to furnish and deploy newly recruited teachers to army children and command secondary schools situated within the Doma barracks, emphasizing the pivotal role of education in nurturing the future generations within the military community and beyond.
In his welcome address, Major General Hilary Nzan, Commander of the Nigerian Army 4 Special Forces Command, Doma, reflected on the historical significance of the WASA tradition, tracing its roots to colonial times. He underscored the evolution of WASA as a cherished forum for officers and soldiers to unwind and celebrate following a year of dedicated regimental service, fostering cultural exchange and camaraderie among military personnel.
