Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has appointed Alhaji Dauda Iliya, the Chairman of the Borno State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), as his Special Adviser on Media and official spokesperson.
The position had been vacant following the passing of the previous spokesperson, Mallam Isa Gusau, in February 2024. The appointment was announced in a statement on Friday, signed by the governor’s Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on New Media, Abdurrahman Bundi.
Iliya, a native of Kwaya-Kusar Local Government Area, holds a bachelor’s degree in English Linguistics and a master’s degree in Mass Communications from the University of Maiduguri, the latter obtained in 2024. He is an active member of several professional bodies, including the NUJ and the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters.
Prior to his new role, Iliya served as a correspondent for Radio Nigeria in Borno State.
