The Governor of Borno State Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has reiterated his unwavering commitment to bolstering the collaborative efforts of security agencies within the state, emphasizing the critical role they play in ending insurgency and curbing criminality. The Governor’s dedication to ensuring the security of lives and property remains his paramount objective.
This affirmation came to light during a recent ministerial courtesy visit to the Department of State Services (DSS) Borno State Office. Prof. Usman Alhaji Tar, the Honorable Commissioner of Information and Internal Security, conveyed Governor Zulum’s resolute support for security agencies, emphasizing the enduring nature of this commitment.
Prof. Tar stated, “Our esteemed Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, is unswervingly dedicated to providing continuous support to the security agencies operating within our state. He has demonstrated this commitment in the past, continues to do so today, and is resolute in his commitment to ensure peace prevails in Borno State and Nigeria as a whole.”
In response, Mamman Mannir Murtala, the Director of DSS Borno State, praised Governor Zulum for his exemplary leadership qualities and his steadfast dedication to safeguarding the lives and property of the state’s residents. Murtala also commended the recent expansion of the Ministry’s mandate to include “Internal Security” and pledged the full support of the DSS in achieving the Ministry’s objectives.
The Director of DSS further remarked on the unprecedented nature of Prof. Tar’s appointment as Commissioner of Information and Internal Security, noting that Tar’s reputation preceded him in security circles. Murtala stated, “For those of us in the security sector, the name TAR resonates in our minds. We often hear about him more than we see him.”
The ministerial courtesy visit included the presence of the Permanent Secretary, Ministerial Secretary, Directors from the ministry, and Heads of Agencies under the purview of the Ministry. The gathering exemplified the strong commitment of Borno State’s leadership to fostering collaboration and synergy among security agencies for the greater good of the state and its citizens.
