The Governing Board of the National Defence College (NDC) has conferred the Excellence and Service to the Nation Award on the Executive Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Zulum.
The award, presented during the NDC’s Course 32 Dinner/Awards Night at the college’s headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday, recognizes Governor Zulum’s contributions to knowledge transfer, his commitment to combating insurgency, and his role in nation-building in Nigeria.
The NDC Governing Board, chaired by the Honourable Minister of Defence, includes the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of Army Staff, the Chief of Naval Staff, the Chief of Air Staff, and the Commandant of the National Defence College, with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence serving as Secretary.
Governor Zulum, unable to attend the event, was represented by Borno State Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Professor Usman Tar, who accepted the award on his behalf.
In his remarks, Rear Admiral Olumuyiwa Olotu, the Commandant of the NDC, praised Governor Zulum for his unwavering dedication to the nation’s progress.
The event was graced by several dignitaries, including the Special Guest of Honour, Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio, represented by Senator Gbenga Daniel, a former governor of Ogun State.
