Zulum’s midnight visit sparks Gwoza hospital rehabilitation

Two weeks ago, on July 15, 2023, Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, undertook an impromptu visit to the General Hospital in Gwoza. The governor was in Gwoza town for various humanitarian and developmental activities, and during his visit, he was deeply disappointed by the dire state of the healthcare center. To his dismay, the hospital was in complete darkness, and its infrastructure was in a dilapidated condition.

Governor Zulum, determined to assess the situation firsthand, used a torchlight to navigate through the wards, examining the facilities and checking on the patients’ conditions. Witnessing the suffering of patients left in the dark due to the lack of functioning facilities, the governor immediately ordered the hospital’s rehabilitation.

Acting swiftly on his directive, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Special Projects and a Commissioner-designate, Engr. Ibrahim Idriss, confirmed that the rehabilitation work had commenced. In compliance with Governor Zulum’s instructions, the necessary resources were mobilized, and the rehabilitation efforts are now underway at the General Hospital in Gwoza.

Engr. Idriss assured the people of Gwoza that the ongoing work would be completed promptly, ensuring that the hospital would soon provide quality and affordable healthcare services to the community. The transformation of the healthcare center is a testament to the governor’s commitment to improving the lives of the people in Borno State.
