The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) reiterated on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, that the party is not engaged in any merger, fusion, or amalgamation talks with any other political party or interest group.
In a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary Hon. Debo Ologunagba, following the NWC’s 587th meeting held in Abuja the PDP, while emphasizing its openness to all Nigerians, including former members who have left for other parties, affirmed its strength and capability to win elections through a free, fair, and transparent electoral process. The NWC highlighted the ongoing influx of millions of Nigerians into the party through the current membership drive in electoral wards nationwide, reinforcing the PDP’s position as the preferred choice for a majority of Nigerians.
The NWC urged the public, party members, democratic institutions, and the international community to disregard any reports suggesting a merger between the PDP and any other political party, stating that such notions are not under consideration.
