President Bola Ahmed Tinubu joined Muslim faithful for Jumat prayers on Friday at the Lekki Central Mosque in Lagos, marking his first public outing since attending prayers at the Alausa Central Mosque the previous week.
According to his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga, during his sermon, the Chief Imam of the Lekki Central Mosque, Ridhwan Jamiu, urged the congregation to remain grateful to Allah in times of fortune and exhibit patience during adversity. He emphasized the importance of unwavering hope and faith, even in challenging times.
Addressing President Tinubu directly, Imam Jamiu expressed confidence in his leadership and commended his efforts thus far.
“We are proud of you,” the Imam said. “During the campaigns, we encouraged people to vote for you, and we thank Allah that you have not disappointed us. We know you are capable, sagacious, and competent, and we continue to pray for your success. May Allah guide you as you lead Nigeria toward peace, security, and prosperity?”
He also reminded the President of his dual responsibility—accountability to the people and ultimate responsibility to Allah. Citing Prophet Muhammad (SAW), he highlighted the virtues of righteousness and justice in leadership, encouraging the President to sustain these qualities.
President Tinubu, who has been spending the festive season in Lagos since his arrival on December 18, had recently canceled public engagements, including a planned boat regatta, to honour victims of tragic stampedes in Oyo and Anambra states, as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Additionally, the President hosted the inaugural Presidential Media Chat on December 23 at his residence in Ikoyi and has been receiving private visitors as part of holiday celebrations.
