A Nigerian delegation, led by Joseph Tegbe, Director-General of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP), has arrived in China to reinforce the strategic ties between the two nations.
In a statement released on Sunday, Tegbe’s visit was described as a pivotal step in advancing the comprehensive strategic partnership between Nigeria and China. The delegation aims to build a high-level Sino-Nigerian community with a shared future.
Upon their arrival, Tegbe and his team were warmly welcomed by representatives of the Chinese business community and officials from the Nigerian embassy.

The statement further noted that during his visit, Tegbe is scheduled to engage with senior Chinese government officials and participate in several strategic meetings designed to finalize agreements that will strengthen Nigeria’s economy across key sectors. These include:
- Agriculture: Enhancing agricultural productivity and food security.
- Alternative Energy: Developing renewable energy sources to decrease reliance on fossil fuels.
- Healthcare: Improving access to quality healthcare services and infrastructure.
- Mining: Utilizing Nigeria’s mineral resources to drive economic growth.
- Education: Strengthening educational institutions and promoting cultural exchanges.
- Technology: Encouraging innovation and technological advancements in Nigeria.
The statement highlighted Tegbe’s role in spearheading Nigeria’s socio-economic transformation through targeted Chinese investments, aligned with China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and Nigeria’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Tegbe’s visit underscores the commitment of both nations to deepen their economic cooperation and foster sustainable development,” the statement added. “As Nigeria aspires to become a net exporter to China within the next five years, this partnership is set to play a critical role in achieving that goal. It also supports the realization of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda by exploring diverse development pathways with China as a key development partner.”
