Pantami condemns Kasuwan Daji market attack, calls for urgent relief

Former Minister of Communications and the pioneer Minister of Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim (Pantami), has expressed strong outrage over the terrorist attack on Kasuwan Daji Market in the Demo community of Borgu Local Government Area, Niger State, which reportedly left more than 30 people dead, several traders abducted, and numerous livelihoods destroyed.

In a statement on Sunday, Pantami described the assault as “barbaric, inhumane, and totally unacceptable,” noting that the victims were peaceful citizens engaged in lawful economic activities. He lamented that markets, which should serve as centres of commerce, interaction, and hope, were increasingly being turned into scenes of terror and bloodshed.

The former minister urged relevant government institutions to act swiftly in providing humanitarian assistance and economic relief to affected traders and families whose means of livelihood were wiped out by the attack.

Pantami extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of those killed, the abducted victims and their loved ones, as well as to the Government and people of Niger State. He particularly sympathised with Governor Mohammed Umar Bago over the tragic incident.

He prayed for the eternal rest of the deceased and for strength and fortitude for their families, while also expressing hope for the safe and speedy rescue of those currently in captivity.

Reaffirming his solidarity with the people of Borgu, Niger State, and all Nigerians affected by insecurity, Pantami prayed for an end to the spate of attacks and for the perpetrators and their sponsors to be brought to disgrace.
