The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has reaffirmed its commitment to combating financial crimes, including money laundering, terrorism financing and proliferation financing, as part of broader efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture.
Commandant General of the Corps, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, made the pledge while receiving a delegation of operational experts from the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit at the agency’s National Headquarters in Abuja. The delegation was led by Abdulrahman Mustapha, Chief Operating Officer, Intelligence and Security Services.
Represented by the Deputy Commandant General in charge of Technical Services, Zakari Ningi, the NSCDC boss described the engagement as strategic, noting that it reinforces existing collaboration between both institutions in safeguarding Nigeria’s financial system.
He stressed that tackling financial crimes requires sustained inter-agency cooperation, anchored on intelligence sharing, coordination and mutual trust, describing such synergy as critical to achieving measurable outcomes.
In his remarks, Mustapha commended the NSCDC for its continued support, with particular recognition for the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) led by Commandant Audrey Obey. He noted that the Unit’s professionalism has strengthened intelligence operations and contributed significantly to ongoing anti-financial crime efforts.
The visit featured technical presentations aimed at enhancing operational collaboration and advancing integrated intelligence frameworks among relevant agencies.
