The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has said the Commission is committed not only to prosecuting financial crimes but also to recognising Nigerians who uphold integrity.
Olukoyede made this known in Abuja on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, while speaking at a Business Grant Award Ceremony organised by the Jerry Eze Foundation.
He disclosed that the EFCC had investigated Jerry Eze, founder of Streams of Joy International, over allegations of money laundering for six months, but found no evidence linking him to any financial crime.
“I want to let Nigerians know that the EFCC is not just about investigating and prosecuting fraudsters; it is also about appreciating and commending Nigerians who are not involved in economic and financial crimes,” Olukoyede said, noting that the cleric was commended following the outcome of the তদন্ত.
The EFCC chairman, however, cautioned religious leaders against engaging in corrupt practices, stressing that integrity must remain central to all faith-based activities.
Commenting on the foundation’s support for 240 small-scale business owners with grants of $3,000 each, Olukoyede described the initiative as a meaningful contribution to national development and urged Nigerians to prioritise impactful interventions that improve lives.
He also commended Bola Tinubu for approving the release of N100 billion from recovered funds to support the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation as take-off capital.
Olukoyede further revealed that the Commission is working towards establishing a Cybercrime Research Centre aimed at equipping Nigerian youths with digital skills and redirecting their talents towards productive and lawful ventures.
