- IGP Charges Police Athletes to Improve on Performance
Meet Nigeria’s exceptional representatives at the 2023 World Aquatics Championship in Fukuoka, Japan: the dynamic duo of PC Collins Obi and W/PC Dorcas Eworo, along with two other talented swimmers. These remarkable individuals have been chosen to proudly represent Nigeria on the international stage.
Last year, at the 2022 African Aquatics Championship, the police swimmers displayed their prowess by securing an impressive total of sixteen medals for Nigeria. Their outstanding performance led to Nigeria securing the second position overall at the Continental Event, a remarkable achievement. They were the sole athletes representing Nigeria at the 2022 World Aquatics Championship in Budapest, Hungary, coming tantalizingly close to podium finishes.
PC Collins Obi is no stranger to success, having been a recipient of the World Aquatics Federation (FINA) Scholarship Programme, a prestigious program held in Kazan, Russia. He has been a beneficiary of this scholarship not once but twice, a testament to his talent and dedication.
W/PC Dorcas Eworo is determined to enhance her performance and secure a spot in the prestigious Athletes Development Programme, showcasing her relentless pursuit of excellence.
Throughout the current championship, we will keep all Nigerians and the global community informed about the outstanding performances of these exceptional representatives. The Inspector General of Police (IGP) urges these wonderful Ambassadors of the Nigerian police force and the nation to continue raising the flag high and wishes them the utmost success in their endeavors. They are shining examples of dedication, talent, and resilience, making Nigeria proud on the world stage.
