Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali, the new Force Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), expressed confidence in the force’s capability to fulfill its mandate during his visit to Headquarters Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) in Ndjemena, Chad, on July 26, 2023. He emphasized the importance of collective effort to restore peace and order in the Lake Chad basin region.
Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, the Military Public Information Officer in Ndjemena, reported General Ali’s appeal for increased support from the Head of Mission in commanding the joint forces, while also acknowledging LCBC’s leadership on the political front of the mission.
The Executive Secretary of LCBC, Ambassador Mamman Nuhu, commended General Ali’s leadership style, describing it as enthusiastic and inclusive. He praised the positive impact of this approach on the MNJTF, fostering unity and dedication among the ranks towards achieving their objectives.
Ambassador Nuhu, who is also the Head of Mission for MNJTF, highlighted the unwavering commitment of the Troop Contributing Countries (TCCs) and their crucial role in establishing and maintaining security in the region. Their continuous support has been pivotal to the success of MNJTF’s operations.
It is worth noting that Major General Ibrahim Ali, the tenth Force Commander of MNJTF, recently assumed the position and pledged to utilize his extensive three decades of experience to address the Boko Haram threat in the Lake Chad Basin region.
