Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali, the new Force Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), expressed his gratitude to the Chadian Armed Forces for their continuous support and called for further cooperation to fulfill the MNJTF’s mandate. During his inaugural visit to the Chadian Chief of General Staff, General Abakar Abdelkarim Daoud, on July 26, 2023, Major General Ali acknowledged the Chadian Armed Forces’ role as gracious hosts to the MNJTF Headquarters.
In a statement issued by Military Public Information Officer – Ndjemena Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, Major General Ali praised General Daoud’s leadership and unwavering support in ensuring the MNJTF’s success. He stressed the importance of collaboration and unity among member countries to effectively combat terrorist activities and promote peace and stability in the Lake Chad basin region. The Force Commander emphasized the need for increased support from all member nations, including Chad, in terms of intelligence sharing, manpower, and resources to effectively tackle the common enemy.
In response, General Daoud assured the Force Commander and the MNJTF of Chad Armed Forces’ readiness to provide continuous support and assistance in achieving the mission’s objectives. He reaffirmed Chad’s commitment to the success of the MNJTF, acknowledging the host country’s unique responsibility in ensuring the mission’s success.
The meeting concluded with both officers expressing optimism about the progress and future accomplishments of the MNJTF. They reiterated their dedication to collaborative efforts and highlighted the significance of ongoing cooperation among member countries to attain lasting peace and security in the region. The visit served as a reaffirmation of the strong partnership between the MNJTF and Chad, underscoring their determination to work together to eradicate terrorism and extremism.
