Amnesty International condemns Boko Haram latest attack in Borno and Adamawa

Amnesty International has strongly condemned a deadly attack by Boko Haram that left at least 20 civilians dead in coordinated assaults across Borno and Adamawa states.

The attacks, which occurred on the evening of April 21, 2026, claimed 11 lives in Pubagu community in Askira Uba Local Government Area and nine others in Mayo Ladde, located in Hong Local Government Area.

According to Amnesty International, the assailants not only killed residents but also set fire to homes and places of worship, leaving widespread destruction in their wake.

The organisation described the incident as a “vicious and unlawful attack,” noting that the deliberate targeting of civilians reflects a continued disregard for human life by the insurgent group.

Amnesty warned that such acts may constitute war crimes under international law and called for those responsible to be swiftly brought to justice.

It further stressed that Boko Haram’s persistent attacks on civilian populations remain unacceptable and urged authorities to take stronger measures to protect vulnerable communities.
