The Nigerian Army has enhanced healthcare access in Kanoma, Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, with the commissioning of a fully remodelled Primary Health Centre and the donation of an ambulance.
According to Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations 8 Division Nigerian Army Lieut. Col. Olaniyi Osoba, the project, executed under the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Special Intervention Project, underscores the Army’s commitment to community development beyond its security mandate.
Representing the COAS, Brigadier General Mustapha Jimoh said the initiative reflects the Army’s belief that “security extends beyond the battlefield” and requires attention to citizens’ welfare.
Major General Abdullahi Kanoma, an indigene who facilitated the project, urged residents to take ownership of the facility to ensure it delivers quality healthcare.

Project supervisor, Brigadier General Abubakar Danladi, explained that the health centre had been in disrepair before its complete renovation, which included new security posts, electrical upgrades, landscaping, drug storage facilities, and the provision of an ambulance for emergency response.
The handover ceremony was attended by local leaders, including the Chairman of Maru LGA, Honourable Bello Muhammad Jabaka, and the Emir of Maru, Abubakar Gado Maigari.
The Army reaffirmed that the project aligns with the COAS’s command philosophy of supporting community well-being as a pillar of lasting security.
