Depot Nigerian Army Osogbo has decorated eight officers elevated to the prestigious rank of Major in the Nigerian Army, in a ceremony that underscored the values of discipline, professionalism, and dedication to service. The investiture took place on September 12, 2025, at the Depot’s Black Panther Officers’ Mess in Osogbo, Osun State.
In his address, the Commandant of Depot Nigerian Army Osogbo, Brigadier General Buhari Madaki, congratulated the officers for their achievement, noting that the elevation was both a personal milestone and an institutional recognition of excellence.
“Promotion in the Nigerian Army is not automatic; it is a rigorous process that rewards only those who embody discipline, professionalism, and commitment to the values of the service. Today, these officers have been found worthy, and their advancement is a testament to their dedication to duty and the Nigerian state,” Brigadier General Madaki stated.
He urged the newly promoted Majors to view the honour as a call to greater responsibility, reminding them that higher ranks come with greater demands for leadership, accountability, and service. “As Majors, you are now leaders of leaders. The Nigerian Army will continue to expect the highest standards of integrity, courage, and efficiency from you as you take on more complex responsibilities,” he added.
The Commandant further charged other officers and recruits of the Depot to draw inspiration from the promotion, stressing that the Nigerian Army remains an institution where diligence, loyalty, and sacrifice are recognized and rewarded.
The ceremony featured formal military traditions, including the decoration of the officers by the Commandant, accompanied by their families and senior colleagues. It concluded with a resounding pledge of loyalty to the Nigerian Army and reaffirmation of commitment to the defence of Nigeria’s sovereignty.
The Depot Nigerian Army Osogbo, through its instructors, staff, and recruits, extended its felicitations to the newly promoted Majors and wished them continued success as they advance in their careers in service to the nation.
