The Centre Against Injustice and Domestic Violence (CAIDOV) has urged the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate and arrest former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, over an alleged admission that he tapped the telephone lines of the National Security Adviser (NSA).
In a statement issued on Saturday and signed by its Executive Director, Gbenga Soloki, the group described the alleged development as a serious national security concern that should not be ignored by relevant authorities.
CAIDOV called on security agencies to act swiftly, stressing that no individual is above the law irrespective of political standing or influence. The organisation maintained that the matter warrants a thorough and transparent investigation to ascertain the full extent of the alleged action.
According to the group, the former governor’s reported remarks amount to a troubling breach that could undermine national security architecture if left unaddressed. It also cautioned against allowing personal or political disagreements with senior security officials to escalate into actions capable of compromising sensitive state institutions.
The group further argued that the alleged incident may have broader implications and urged the DSS to determine whether any laws were violated and to take appropriate steps in line with due process.
As of the time of filing this report, El-Rufai had not issued a public response to the allegations. The DSS also had yet to release an official statement regarding CAIDOV’s demand.
The development comes amid heightened political discourse involving prominent political actors and security institutions.
