China has reinforced its commitment to Nigeria’s educational development, with Chinese Ambassador Yu Dunhai pledging deeper support for bilateral education and cultural exchange.
Speaking at the “Nihao China” Painting Competition Awards Ceremony and launch of a new Chinese Corner in Abuja, Ambassador Dunhai emphasized education’s essential role in national progress and highlighted ongoing partnerships between the Chinese Embassy and Nigeria’s FCT Education Board.
In his remarks, Dunhai outlined China’s dedication to expanding high-level educational exchanges, including additional Chinese Corners across Abuja and increased opportunities for Nigerian teachers and students to study and train in China. “I hope that the teachers and students in the Chinese Corner will become true messengers of friendship between our two countries,” Dunhai stated. He further noted that twelve Chinese Corners have already been established around Abuja, enabling Nigerian students to explore Chinese culture and arts.

The Ambassador also praised Nigeria’s artistic talents showcased during the painting competition, observing that Nigeria’s youth possess remarkable creativity. He expressed optimism that the cross-cultural engagement offered by these corners would foster future ambassadors for both nations.
Dr. Muhammed Ladan, Director of the FCT Secondary Education Board, lauded the collaboration as mutually beneficial, noting that it provides Nigerian students with language and scholarship opportunities. Meanwhile, Josephine Ogwu, Principal of Government Secondary School Wuse Zone 3, expressed enthusiasm for the Chinese Corner, describing it as a platform for fostering educational and cultural diplomacy.
The event concluded with awards for participants in the Nihao China Painting Competition, celebrating artistic skills and reinforcing the significance of cultural exchange over competition results.
