As Muslims across Nigeria and the world celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has conveyed his warm greetings to officers, soldiers, and their families, commending their steadfast service to the nation.
In a statement, Acting Director, Army Public Relations Lieut. Col. Appolonia Anele said in his Eid message, the COAS praised the Nigerian Army’s unwavering resilience in tackling security challenges, noting that their courage and sacrifice continue to inspire national unity. “Your unflinching devotion and gallantry are deeply appreciated,” he said.
Drawing on the significance of Eid-el-Kabir as a time of sacrifice, General Oluyede urged troops to remain steadfast and to draw strength from the season’s spiritual message. He acknowledged the Nigerian Army’s achievements over the past year, highlighting the gradual restoration of peace in several regions, which he attributed to the professionalism and loyalty of the troops.
“Many of our brave soldiers carry visible and invisible scars, and some have made the ultimate sacrifice,” he said. “We honour them and stand with their families during this festive period.”
General Oluyede reaffirmed the army’s commitment to safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and tackling emerging security threats. He also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support and strategic leadership in strengthening national security.
As troops and their families celebrate Eid, the COAS called on them to embrace the season with humility, gratitude, and renewed dedication to service.
