Continuing his strategic engagement with key stakeholders, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), embarked on significant visits to two eminent figures, former President Muhammadu Buhari and His Royal Highness, the Emir of Daura, Dr. Farouk Umar Farouk, on Saturday, March 9, 2024.
Commencing his series of visits at the Daura residence of former President Buhari, Adeniyi conveyed profound appreciation for the pivotal role the former president played in the enactment of the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023. This legislative milestone, Adeniyi emphasized, empowers the NCS to implement policies crucial for enhancing revenue generation and facilitating trade, thereby contributing significantly to Nigeria’s economic growth.

During the meeting, Adeniyi also briefed former President Buhari on President Bola Tinubu’s directive regarding seized trucks of food destined for export, emphasizing the imperative of ensuring food security as a cornerstone of national strength.
Expressing his gratitude for Adeniyi’s visit, former President Buhari commended the NCS for its vital role in border protection, essential for safeguarding national security interests.
Subsequently, CGC Adeniyi proceeded to the esteemed Emir of Daura’s palace, where he sought to reinforce the longstanding partnership between the NCS and the Daura Emirate. Reflecting on past collaborations with former Comptroller-General of Customs, Dikko Inde Abdullahi, Adeniyi reiterated his confidence in the collective efforts of the NCS and other security agencies to combat threats to national security.

In response, Emir Farouk Umar Farouk extended warm appreciation to Adeniyi, pledging unwavering support to the NCS in its pursuit of excellence. He urged Adeniyi to remain steadfast in upholding national security and economic stability.
In a symbolic gesture, Emir Farouk Umar Farouk honored Adeniyi with the traditional title of ‘Mabuɗin Hausa,’ signifying the enduring bond between the NCS and the Daura Emirate.
Adeniyi reiterated that these visits underscore the symbiotic relationship between governmental institutions and traditional authorities in fostering national cohesion, security, and progress.
