Defunct CPC Chairmen pledge support for Tinubu, call for inclusive APC leadership

The Forum of State Chairmen of the defunct Congress for Progressives Change (CPC) has reaffirmed its support for President Bola Tinubu, emphasizing a collective commitment to strengthening the All Progressives Congress (APC) as an inclusive party.

In a statement jointly signed by the Forum’s National Secretary, Sulaiman Oyaremi, and zonal representatives Lekan Obolo, Mike Agbe, Enyinnaya Ibiam Nnachi, Isah Ramatu Saidu, Ahmad Dawayo, and Musa Abubakar Damaliki, the group underscored the need to back the current party leadership and foster a sense of belonging among all stakeholders.

“We believe it is our duty to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and contribute to transforming the APC into an institution where every stakeholder feels included and represented,” the statement read.

The Forum expressed concern over the growing political controversies surrounding the CPC bloc within the APC, attributing the situation to a lack of coherent leadership and inclusiveness. They lamented that former CPC members, particularly ex-state chairmen, have not been fairly integrated into government structures or party leadership, despite their contributions to the party’s electoral victories.

Acknowledging the rights of those who have chosen to leave the APC, the Forum made clear its intention to remain within the party, aligning with former President Muhammadu Buhari. “Except for a few, we are unanimous in our decision to remain in the party with our principal, former President Buhari,” they affirmed.

Additionally, the Forum urged President Tinubu and APC-led governments at all levels to prioritize addressing the nation’s pressing challenges, notably insecurity and economic hardship. “These issues of governance, not the 2027 elections, should be our focus as we approach the second anniversary of the current administration,” the statement concluded.
