The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from the Abuja Zonal Command made a significant breakthrough by apprehending 29 individuals suspected of involvement in internet fraud.
According to the anti-graft agency, the arrests occurred on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, across various locations including Apo, Gwarimpa, and Katampe areas of Abuja.
The EFCC’s action was prompted by actionable intelligence pointing to the suspected engagement of these individuals in internet-related fraudulent activities. Upon their apprehension, law enforcement officials seized a notable array of items from the suspects, including 43 mobile phones of various brands, six vehicles, and two smartwatches.
As investigations into the matter continue, the apprehended individuals are expected to face charges in court once the legal process is concluded. The EFCC remains committed to combating cybercrime and ensuring that perpetrators are brought to justice.
