EFCC, CLTC partner to curb youth involvement in internet fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has pledged to deepen collaboration with the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre (CLTC) to intensify youth enlightenment campaigns against internet fraud.

EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, made this known on Thursday, October 2, 2025, when the Director General of CLTC, Rinsola Abiola, led her management team on a courtesy visit to the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.

Olukoyede noted that the EFCC already shares a long-standing relationship with the Centre and expressed readiness to expand joint initiatives aimed at preventing financial crimes through early awareness.

“We must let young people know the dangers of cybercrime and emphasize that integrity pays,” he said. “Prevention will save the country a lot. That’s why we have established integrity clubs in secondary schools, and we will work with CLTC to strengthen such efforts.”

He further disclosed that the Commission is establishing a cybercrime center designed to address internet-related crimes holistically.

In her remarks, Abiola commended the EFCC’s progress under Olukoyede’s leadership, describing the Commission as a key strategic partner in CLTC’s mandate of shaping responsible leaders.

“Part of my mandate is to directly impact young people. Cybercrime is a pressing issue among them, and through collaboration with the EFCC, we can train and guide youths on leadership values while discouraging financial crimes,” she stated.

The partnership is expected to roll out joint programmes in schools, focusing on prevention, rehabilitation, and leadership development to tackle internet fraud among Nigerian youths.
