FG declares June 12 democracy day public holiday

The Federal Government has declared Thursday, June 12, 2025, as a public holiday to mark this year’s Democracy Day celebrations.

Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced the holiday in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani. He congratulated Nigerians on 26 years of uninterrupted democratic governance.

“June 12 represents our historic journey to building a nation where truth and justice reign, peace is sustained, and our future assured,” Tunji-Ojo said. He emphasized the resilience and strength of Nigerians and reaffirmed the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope government to the principles of democracy and the freely expressed will of the people.
