Continuing his series of familiarisation visits to various formations and units under his command, Major General Valentine Okoro, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division Nigerian Army Ibadan, recently paid a visit to the 22 Brigade in Ilorin. Upon arrival, he was warmly received and briefed by the Brigade’s Commander, Brigadier General Adebayo Babalola.
Addressing the troops, Major General Okoro expressed his heartfelt gratitude for their unwavering service to the nation and emphasized the importance of their role in maintaining peace at all times. He informed them of the Chief of Army Staff’s commitment to addressing their welfare needs and encouraged them to redouble their efforts in ensuring the safety and security of the nation.

During his visit to the Government House in Ilorin, Major General Okoro was greeted by Mr. Kayode Alabi, the Deputy Governor of Kwara State, who extended congratulations on his appointment. The Deputy Governor assured the GOC of the continued support of the state government and its people in working towards a more peaceful Nigeria.
The Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, praised the Army’s efforts in combating terrorism and criminality in the country. He pledged ongoing support from his domain towards the realization of a peaceful and prosperous nation.

Among the highlights of the visit were the commissioning of observation posts, which will bolster security in the Barracks, and a visit to the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Pategi.
The visit served to strengthen the bond between the military and civilian authorities, emphasizing the collective commitment to a secure and harmonious Nigeria.
