Gov Fintiri eases curfew in 17 local government councils

Adamawa State Governor, the Right Honourable Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has recently reevaluated the curfew imposed across the State in response to the looting of items at the Government Warehouses last Sunday. The decision comes after careful consideration and an assessment of the prevailing situation.

According to a statement from the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Humwashi Wonosikou, the curfew has been relaxed in 17 Local Government Areas. However, in the twin councils of Yola North, Yola South, Girei, and Numan, the curfew will continue to be in effect from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am daily until further notice. Security operatives will be stationed in these areas to ensure compliance with the new directive and maintain law and order.

The Governor’s decision to modify the curfew was based on the return of peace in most areas and the advice of the state security council. He clarified that the initial curfew was not meant to cause hardship but rather to safeguard the people and restore normalcy to the affected regions.

Governor Fintiri expressed appreciation for the understanding and cooperation shown by the citizens and residents thus far. He urged everyone to direct their grievances to the appropriate authorities and refrain from taking the law into their own hands.

The Government remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all citizens while working towards a peaceful and stable state for everyone. By following the new directives and maintaining order, the community can collectively contribute to the restoration of peace and security in Adamawa State.
