The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has directed the IGP Special Investigation Unit (SIU) to take over the investigation into the death of Priscilla Ocheme, whose body was discovered after she went missing on September 22, 2024, following a visit to her boyfriend, Ekhousuehi Elvis, at his residence in Goshen Estate, Pyakasa, Abuja.
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), in a statement issued by Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, reaffirmed its commitment to a thorough, impartial, and transparent investigation.
Elvis, considered the primary suspect, was initially summoned by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 7, Abuja, but instead filed a counter-petition with another police formation in Lagos. To ensure clarity and prevent overlapping investigations, the IGP directed the SIU to assume full control of the case.
Elvis and other individuals linked to the incident are currently in police custody and undergoing interrogation. The police clarified that no suspect is being mistreated, countering rumors circulating on social media.
The NPF has called on the public to disregard false information and urged anyone with relevant details to come forward to assist in the investigation.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to ensuring justice for Priscilla Ocheme and her family,” the statement read, emphasizing the importance of transparency and due process in the ongoing investigation.
