President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election, describing the outcome as a strong affirmation that democracy will continue to flourish in Nigeria.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu said he had earlier called Adeleke to congratulate him on his victory in the governorship election.
The President said the result reflected the confidence the people of Osun State had placed in Adeleke and expressed optimism that the governor would use his second term to advance the state’s development.
“I wish him great success as he prepares to lead the state for the next four years,” Tinubu said.
He urged Adeleke to use his re-election to unite the people of Osun State and mobilise them towards growth, stability and socio-economic development, irrespective of their political affiliations or choices during the election.
“Now that he has won, Governor Adeleke must unite the people of Osun State and rally them for growth, stability, and social and economic progress, regardless of the political choices they made at the election,” he said.
Tinubu also commended other contestants for the courage and discipline they displayed throughout the electoral process, saying their participation contributed to the deepening of Nigeria’s democratic culture.
He said the outcome of the election reflected the will of the people and demonstrated the resilience of Nigeria’s democratic system.
“The outcome of the election reflects the will of the people and is a fitting assurance that democracy will continue to flourish in our land,” the President stated.
The President further commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for conducting what he described as a peaceful and transparent election that produced a clear winner.
He urged all stakeholders to sustain the democratic values demonstrated during the Osun election as the country continues to strengthen its electoral institutions and democratic processes.
