The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to enhancing the welfare of retired officers during a courtesy visit by delegations from the National Association of Retired Police Officers of Nigeria (NARPON) and retired officers under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS).
In a statement, Force Public Relations Officer Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the delegations, led respectively by AIG Paul O. Ochonu (Rtd) and CP Henry Njoku Esq (Rtd), commended the IGP’s dedication to addressing the concerns of police pensioners and acknowledged his leadership’s efforts in safeguarding the welfare of former officers.
Discussions at the meeting, held at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, focused on key issues surrounding pension challenges and the broader well-being of police retirees. The IGP assured the visiting teams that proactive steps are underway to ensure timely disbursement of entitlements and the implementation of sustainable solutions to pension-related concerns.
IGP Egbetokun emphasized the value of retired officers’ contributions to national security and reiterated the Force’s determination to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure continuous support and recognition for retirees.
The meeting underscored the Force’s renewed drive to maintain the dignity and welfare of its personnel beyond active service.
