Dignitaries gathered at the IGP Smart Conference Hall, located in Louis Edet House, Force Headquarters, Abuja, to witness a momentous occasion—the unveiling of the Police-VGS Quick Emergency Reporting and Response System (QERRS). Leading the event was the Acting Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, who was joined by esteemed guests.
The Police-VGS QERRS is a groundbreaking smart policing initiative, designed to revolutionize the way the police respond to emergencies, ensuring swift and efficient action in critical situations. According to CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer at Force Headquarters, Abuja, this application has been meticulously developed to ensure timely response and appropriate referrals in the face of emergencies, such as accidents, natural disasters, medical crises, criminal incidents, and intelligence sharing, among others.
Through a simple swipe of a button on a mobile phone, emergency notifications will be instantly dispatched to a dedicated team of highly trained police operatives. These professionals will promptly and cohesively coordinate their response, striving to reach the scene in the shortest possible time. The Police-VGS app stands as a lifeline that can make all the difference in saving lives, combating crime, and enhancing the security of our communities.
IGP Adeolu Egbetokun emphasized that the Police-VGS, in addition to the previously launched C4i-NPF Rescue Me App, exemplifies the unwavering commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to the safety and protection of the public. He urged every resident of Nigeria to wholeheartedly embrace this innovative solution, as its widespread adoption is poised to significantly impact policing services across the nation. With the Police-VGS QERRS, the police and the public can forge a powerful partnership in creating a safer and more secure environment for all.
