The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has successfully completed the extradition of Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, also known as Killaboi, from Doha, Qatar to Nigeria, where he will face charges for the murder of Miss Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe.
According to Force Public Relations Officer Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the suspect, who had been on the run since July 2023, was returned to Nigeria in the early hours of Saturday, April 19, 2025, following coordinated efforts involving the Federal Ministry of Justice, INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja, and Qatari judicial authorities.
Nnayereugo is accused of murdering 21-year-old Miss Onuwabhagbe, a first-class student of Lead City University, at his residence in Ajah, Lagos. After the crime, he fled the country and later posted a video online, allegedly confessing to the act—an attempt investigators described as deceptive and aimed at misleading the public.
Following a formal petition from the victim’s family on September 29, 2024, INTERPOL NCB Abuja launched an international investigation. Nnayereugo was declared wanted by the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) on October 13, 2023, and a Red Notice was issued for his global apprehension.
He was first arrested under a false identity in Freetown, Sierra Leone, on October 20, 2023, but escaped custody during a prison break in November. Further intelligence traced his movements through several countries in West Africa, East Asia, and the Middle East, where he continued to assume multiple fake identities.
Eventually tracked to Doha, Qatar, under the alias Toure Abdoulaye, he was arrested in February 2025 after his identity was confirmed using advanced biometrics and international law enforcement cooperation. His extradition was approved by Qatari authorities after a formal request from Nigeria.
Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, commended the collaborative efforts of international and national partners, including the Attorney-General of the Federation, INTERPOL NCB Doha, and the Nigerian Embassy in Qatar, for their role in securing the suspect’s return.
The IGP assured the public that the Nigeria Police Force remains committed to ensuring diligent prosecution of the case and reaffirmed its resolve to pursue justice for the victim and her family.
