Justice Alexander Owoeye of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, has sentenced one Olukeye Adedayo to 76 years in prison for multiple cybercrimes, including child pornography, sextortion, and internet fraud.
Adedayo was convicted on Thursday, June 19, 2025, on an 18-count charge brought against him by the Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The offences included fraudulent impersonation, distribution of child pornography, and obtaining property by false pretence amounting to N721,500.
He was first arraigned in 2024 and pleaded not guilty to all charges, prompting a full trial that began on June 5, 2024. Prosecution counsel Bilikisu Buhari called two key witnesses: Wahid Hamidi, a police sergeant with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), and EFCC operative Saidu Yakubu. The prosecution also submitted substantial documentary and digital evidence.
Justice Owoeye found the defendant guilty on all 18 counts. He was sentenced as follows:

Counts 1–4: Two years each for cyberstalking and distribution of child pornography.

Counts 5–14: Four years each for disguising the origin of fraud proceeds, with no option of fine.

Counts 15–18: Seven years each for obtaining property under false pretence, also without an option of fine.
The judge ruled that the sentences will run concurrently, meaning Adedayo will serve a maximum of seven years.
The case gained international attention due to Adedayo’s creation of an Instagram group titled “Expose Janjua Robin Nudes,” used to circulate explicit images. His activities were exposed through a collaborative investigation involving Nigerian and Canadian law enforcement.
The EFCC welcomed the verdict as a significant step in the fight against cybercrime and online exploitation.
