Nigeria recorded a major success at the 24th Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) Senior Athletics Championship in Accra, Ghana, as teenage sensations Rosemary and Miracle powered the country to gold in the women’s 4x100m relay event.
The young athletes, both students of NTIC Secondary School, played pivotal roles in Team Nigeria’s outstanding performance, helping the team secure victory with an impressive time of 42.94 seconds.
The triumph not only earned Nigeria the gold medal but also secured qualification for the World Championships in Gaborone, while guaranteeing the country’s place at the 2027 World Championship in China.
Rosemary’s performance was particularly remarkable, as the championship marked her senior debut for Nigeria at the continental level.
Sports enthusiasts and athletics stakeholders have since hailed the duo for their exceptional display, describing their achievement as a strong indication of the bright future of Nigerian athletics. Many observers noted that the teenagers’ success further demonstrates that age is no barrier to excellence in sports.
