NAF achieves significant success in counter-terrorism operations

In a decisive move against terrorism in the Northwest and North Central regions, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) under Operation Whirl Punch (OPWP) has conducted sustained air strikes, resulting in the elimination of numerous terrorist elements at Tsauni Doka in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

In an official statement, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force, emphasized the strategic importance of these air strikes. The decision to engage in the operation was prompted by credible intelligence that identified the presence of a notorious terrorist leader, known as Boderi, and his associates at Tsauni Doka.

The air strikes, executed in the early hours of 16 November 2023, yielded devastating consequences for the terrorists. Gabkwet highlighted that a separate operation, situated approximately 500 meters east of Boderi’s hideout and believed to be the location of his brother Nasiru, also met with success.

Describing the outcomes as highly successful, Gabkwet reported the neutralization of several terrorists and the destruction of their motorcycles in both locations. Boderi and Nasiru, alongside their accomplices, have been implicated in numerous attacks and abductions along critical routes such as the Abuja-Kaduna expressway and Kaduna-Birnin Gwari Road, as well as in various communities spanning Niger and Kaduna States.

The NAF’s resolute actions underscore the commitment of the Nigerian military to eradicate terrorist threats and ensure the safety and security of citizens in the affected regions. The successful operations serve as a testament to the effectiveness of intelligence-driven strategies in combating terrorism within the country.
