The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has strengthened its technical and safety capabilities following its participation in a specialised Munitions Management and Safety Course held from 23 to 27 February 2026 at the Turkish Partnership for Peace Training Centre in Ankara, Türkiye.
Three NAF officers were among 25 participants drawn from 14 countries, underscoring the Service’s sustained investment in international professional military education and exposure to global best practices. The programme provided a structured platform for cross-national collaboration and the exchange of expertise in contemporary munitions management standards.
During the course, participants received intensive instruction on United Nations and NATO doctrines, terminologies and regulatory frameworks governing munitions management and safety. Syndicate sessions and group discussions enabled officers to share national procedures and safety architectures, fostering interoperability awareness and strengthening professional competence.
The training also exposed participants to emerging technologies and evolving trends shaping modern munitions safety systems, broadening their technical outlook in line with international benchmarks.
The engagement aligns with the command philosophy of the Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Kelvin Aneke, which emphasises deliberate training, international collaboration and continuous professional development as core drivers of operational effectiveness.
By equipping its personnel with globally benchmarked expertise and reinforcing strategic partnerships, the NAF continues to consolidate its commitment to safety, professionalism and mission readiness.
