Seven Nigerian Air Force (NAF) officers have distinguished themselves at the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) after successfully completing Course 47, which coincided with the institution’s 50th anniversary.
The course brought together 90 officers, comprising 64 personnel from the Ghana Armed Forces and 26 officers drawn from 14 allied African countries.
Nigeria was represented by nine officers from the Armed Forces of Nigeria, including seven Nigerian Air Force officers and two Nigerian Navy officers.
The Nigerian contingent delivered an impressive performance throughout the course, with Squadron Leader A.M. Sanda emerging as the Best Allied Graduate.
The prestigious award is presented to the allied participant who demonstrates exceptional academic performance, broad military knowledge, professional competence and outstanding leadership qualities.
The recognition underscores the professionalism, intellectual capacity and commitment to excellence demonstrated by NAF personnel in professional military education and strategic leadership development.
The achievement also reflects the Nigerian Air Force’s sustained investment in developing strategically minded, operationally capable and mission-ready personnel capable of operating effectively in increasingly complex and evolving security environments.
The participating officers joined colleagues from Benin, Botswana, Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, Malawi, Morocco, Namibia, Nigeria, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and Togo.
Beyond the individual accomplishments, Nigeria’s participation in the programme reaffirmed the country’s commitment to regional integration, collective security and stability across the African continent.
The course also highlighted the importance of professional military education and strategic exchanges in strengthening interoperability, promoting mutual understanding and deepening military-to-military cooperation among African armed forces.
Squadron Leader Sanda’s emergence as Best Allied Graduate was described as not only a personal achievement but also a reflection of the Nigerian Air Force’s growing emphasis on professional excellence, strategic leadership and continuous capacity development in support of Nigeria’s national and regional security objectives.
