The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the implementation of the Nigeria Alcohol Policy and its Multisectoral Implementation Plan (2026–2030), recently launched by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
The policy provides a coordinated national framework aimed at reducing alcohol-related harm while promoting responsible economic development. It places strong emphasis on prevention, treatment and rehabilitation, effective regulation, and the protection of underage persons and other vulnerable groups.
Delivering a goodwill message at the launch, the Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, commended the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare for providing clear policy direction on alcohol control under the leadership of the Coordinating Minister, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, CON.
Prof. Adeyeye reaffirmed NAFDAC’s commitment to contributing to a healthier, safer and more productive Nigeria through science-based regulation, effective monitoring and surveillance, strengthened food control systems, and sustained stakeholder engagement.
She said the Agency remains committed to working with relevant stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of the policy and advance coordinated efforts to protect public health and reduce the harmful effects associated with alcohol consumption.
