The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has seized counterfeit malaria drugs worth over ₦1.2 billion during a raid in the Ilasa-Oshodi area of Lagos State.
The agency intercepted 277 cartons of unregistered Malamal Forte concealed in boxes labelled as Diclofenac Potassium 50mg. The drugs, illegally imported from Shanxi Tianyuan Pharmaceuticals Group in China, were falsely declared as spare parts.

NAFDAC’s Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, said the operation underscores the agency’s resolve—backed by the Presidency and the Federal Ministry of Health—to rid Nigeria of counterfeit and substandard medicines.
The seizure forms part of ongoing nationwide efforts to safeguard public health and ensure access to safe, quality medicines.
