NEDC distributes food relief to vulnerable groups in Borno

The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has distributed over 9,000 assorted food items to vulnerable women and disadvantaged groups in Borno State.

The relief items, which included 3,000 bags of rice (25kg), 2,000 bags of sugar (50kg), 2,000 gallons of vegetable oil, and 2,000 cartons of pasta, were provided through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), an initiative of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu. The official handover ceremony took place in Maiduguri.

The items were received on behalf of the Borno State First Lady, Dr. Falmata Zulum, by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Women Affairs, Hajiya Hauwa Mai Musa.

Engr. Mohammed Umaru, the Coordinator of the NEDC Borno State Office, presented the items on behalf of the Commission’s Managing Director/CEO, Mohammed Alkali. He stated that similar humanitarian interventions would be extended to the wives of governors in the other five states of the Northeast region.

Acknowledging the Commission’s contributions, the Special Adviser to Governor Zulum on Women Affairs commended the NEDC for its ongoing support, particularly in assisting vulnerable populations and those affected by insurgency.
