Business communities in Nigeria and China have been called upon to support the strategic vision of Presidents Bola Tinubu and Xi Jinping to enhance trade and bilateral relations between the two nations.
The call was made over the weekend in Abuja by Joseph Tegbe, Director-General of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP), during a meeting with Diao Chunhe, Executive Chairman of the Alliance of Chinese Business in Africa for Social Responsibility (ACBASR), and Dr. Tristan Cui, Director-General of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce-Nigeria.
The meeting sought to foster collaboration between Chinese companies operating in Nigeria and Nigerian businesses with interests in China. Tegbe emphasized the need for the Chinese business community to align with the efforts of both presidents to create a mutually beneficial relationship. He noted that under President Tinubu’s leadership, Nigeria is committed to transitioning its trade relationship with China into a developmental partnership, where China’s industrial expertise acts as a catalyst for Nigeria’s industrialization.
In response, Diao Chunhe highlighted ACBASR’s mission to promote social responsibility among Chinese enterprises in Africa. He underscored the importance of collaboration to ensure businesses from both nations contribute positively to their host countries. ACBASR has been instrumental in driving sustainable development and fostering corporate social responsibility through partnerships with African governments, businesses, and civil society.
Dr. Tristan Cui, Director-General of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce-Nigeria, reaffirmed the chamber’s commitment to facilitating trade and investment between the two countries. Representing Chinese State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) and leading private companies operating in Nigeria, Cui assured the NCSP delegation of the chamber’s continued support in advancing Nigeria-China economic ties.
These efforts align with President Bola Tinubu’s vision of transforming Nigeria-China relations into a comprehensive strategic partnership, focusing on industrial collaboration, knowledge exchange, and increasing Nigeria’s export capacity. The Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership serves as a platform to realize Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, leveraging China’s expertise for Nigeria’s development.
This engagement marks a pivotal step toward fostering stronger bilateral relations and ensuring sustainable development guided by shared values of social responsibility.
