Nigerian Army alerts public on fake recruitment scam

The Nigerian Army Headquarters (NA) has issued a public alert regarding a recent online scam perpetrated by an impostor posing as a fake Major General named Gwabin Musa. This individual has been engaged in deceptive recruitment activities on various social media platforms, including Facebook, claiming to represent the Nigerian Army, Navy, and Air Force. He has offered to facilitate the recruitment of 20 interested individuals into these services.

Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, clarified in a statement that this impostor has no affiliation with the Nigerian Army or any branch of the Armed Forces of Nigeria. Additionally, the Nigerian Army does not endorse recruitment processes conducted through unofficial channels or proxies.

The Nigerian Army adheres to its official recruitment policies and guidelines, as outlined in the Harmonized Terms and Conditions of Service for Soldiers, Ratings, and Airmen (Revised 2017 Edition). These procedures are transparent, well-regulated, and meticulously organized, encompassing credential screening, medical assessments, physical and mental evaluations, aptitude tests, and oral interviews.

Nwachukwu emphasized that the Nigerian Army encourages the public to exercise vigilance and caution when encountering online recruitment offers of this nature. The NA maintains designated channels and platforms for the dissemination of official recruitment information. It is imperative to note that the Nigerian Army never solicits payments or financial commitments during its recruitment exercises. Any individual or group claiming to represent the NA and requesting payment should be promptly reported.

The Nigerian Army is actively collaborating with law enforcement agencies to identify those responsible for this fraudulent activity. The public is urged to assist in this endeavor by reporting suspicious recruitment offers and individuals to the appropriate authorities. Ensuring the safety and security of the public remains the Nigerian Army’s paramount concern.
