- CoAS pledges to sustain collaboration
The Nigerian Army (NA) has decided to enhance its partnership with the Nigerian Communication Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) to strengthen their communication infrastructure. According to Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, this decision was made on Wednesday, August 9, 2023. On this day, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff (CoAS), welcomed the management team of NIGCOMSAT to the Army Headquarters in Abuja. The team, led by Engr Tukur Lawal, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, engaged in discussions with the CoAS.
During the meeting, Lieutenant General Lagbaja expressed his gratitude for the longstanding cooperation between the Nigerian Army and NIGCOMSAT. He acknowledged the agency’s consistent provision of fast, reliable, and secure communication services to various Army units. This support has significantly contributed to the operational efficiency of the Nigerian Army. The CoAS assured the continuation of this collaboration, emphasizing that the partnership with NIGCOMSAT has yielded valuable results.
Engr Tukur Lawal, the MD of NIGCOMSAT, praised the Nigerian Army for its constructive feedback on NIGCOMSAT’s services and the mutually beneficial cooperation between the two entities. He underscored NIGCOMSAT’s primary goal of ensuring seamless connectivity and satellite communication through technological innovation. He stressed the importance of the Nigerian Army’s collaboration with NIGCOMSAT to enhance operational effectiveness and the defense of the nation’s territories. Lawal encouraged the Nigerian Army to actively participate in the agency’s upcoming satellite launch, which would further bolster national defense and security. This joint effort would involve the development of secure communication infrastructure.
Both parties acknowledged that there were existing challenges and agreed to work together to address these issues and enhance overall productivity.
