Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Ltd. through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm, NNPC Foundation, has extended a gesture of support to flood victims in Borno State by donating essential relief materials to ease their suffering. The donation follows a devastating flood that ravaged several communities in the state, displacing many and leaving homes and properties destroyed.
The donation was made during a condolence visit to the Borno State Government on Tuesday. The Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of NNPC Ltd., Mr. Mele Kyari, was represented at the visit by the Executive Vice President of Business Services, Mr. Danladi Inuwa. Speaking on behalf of the company, Mr. Inuwa conveyed NNPC’s heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Borno, expressing deep sympathy for the victims of the disaster. He noted that the donation reflects the company’s commitment to supporting the state during this challenging period.
“The recent flood disaster has brought significant hardship to the people of Borno, and NNPC Ltd. is committed to helping alleviate the suffering of the affected communities,” Mr. Inuwa stated during the visit.

The relief materials donated by NNPC Ltd. included essential items such as foodstuffs, toiletries, bedding, and various household goods. These supplies are expected to provide immediate relief to those who lost their homes and possessions in the flooding. The company emphasized that its support goes beyond mere donations, reflecting a broader commitment to social responsibility and community welfare.
The Borno State Government expressed appreciation for the timely intervention, noting that the relief materials would go a long way in addressing the urgent needs of those affected by the floods. Governor Babagana Zulum, represented by the State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, welcomed the donation and highlighted the importance of such partnerships in tackling disasters.
NNPC Ltd.’s gesture is part of the ongoing efforts by various government and private sector organizations to bring relief to the communities devastated by flooding in Borno State. As the rainy season intensifies, many residents of the state are vulnerable to further flooding, and continued assistance from organizations like NNPC Ltd. remains crucial to mitigating the impact of these natural disasters.
The CSR initiative is one of many by NNPC Ltd. aimed at fostering development, promoting welfare, and supporting communities across Nigeria. Through the NNPC Foundation, the company has been actively involved in humanitarian efforts, including disaster relief, healthcare, education, and environmental sustainability projects nationwide.
