NNPC Retail Limited has reinforced its commitment to gender inclusion and women’s empowerment with the hosting of the second edition of its flagship initiative, She-Fix 2.0, in Abuja.
The event, themed “Driving Diversity, Powering Progress,” drew over 300 participants, including women professionals, entrepreneurs, young technicians, and leaders across the energy industry.
Speaking at the event, the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, described inclusion as vital to national development and called for expanded opportunities for women, particularly in technical and STEM-related fields. She commended NNPC Retail for the initiative and urged stronger collaboration between government and the private sector to scale its impact.
In her keynote address, Sophia Mbakwe, Executive Vice President, Business Services at NNPC Limited, highlighted the critical role women play across all levels of the organisation. She noted that NNPC Retail, as the company’s primary interface with consumers, reflects the importance of diversity in driving operational success.
Managing Director of NNPC Retail, Huub Stokman, represented by Valentina Kojo, emphasised that women’s empowerment must be practical, visible, and sustainable to deliver meaningful outcomes.
Also speaking, Andy Odeh said women are increasingly shaping the future of the energy sector through leadership and innovation. He noted that organisations benefit significantly when women lead, adding that such leadership drives value creation and societal progress.
The event featured panel discussions, live car-care demonstrations, a marketplace for female-led businesses, interactive sessions, and networking opportunities. Participants also benefitted from promotional offers on Oleum Lubricants and NR-GAS LPG products, underscoring NNPC Retail’s commitment to inclusion across the energy value chain.
The panel session brought together prominent female leaders, including Emmanuella Arukwe, Maryamu Idris, Oremeyi Akah, Toyin Alasi, and Adaeze Nwakoby, who shared insights on leadership, innovation, and opportunities for women across industries.
Organisers noted that She-Fix 2.0 builds on the success of its 2025 debut in Lagos, reflecting a deliberate effort to expand its reach and deepen impact. The initiative, they said, remains a strategic platform for fostering long-term opportunities for women within Nigeria’s energy sector.
