NNPC, Schlumberger forge partnership to enhance Nigeria’s upstream operations

In a strategic move aimed at revitalizing Nigeria’s oil and gas industry, NNPC Energy Services Limited (EnServ) and global technology leader Schlumberger (SLB) have signed a technical partnership agreement to enhance upstream operations. The agreement was formalized at NNPC Ltd.’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja, with senior executives from both organizations present.

Mele Kyari, Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd., highlighted the ongoing industry reforms that are expected to spur short-term investments. “Our environment is excellent today, with reviewed contracting processes and clear reforms initiated by the President. We are seeing substantial energy directed towards unlocking current opportunities,” Kyari remarked.

The partnership is expected to boost drilling activities and increase crude oil production, supporting Nigeria’s plan to deepen gas utilization. Kyari emphasized the value of the longstanding relationship with Schlumberger, noting the partnership’s potential to create significant value for the country.

Schlumberger CEO Olivier Le Peuch expressed optimism about the agreement, which aims to accelerate Nigeria’s exploration and production targets. He emphasized Schlumberger’s commitment to investing in local talent and technology to support NNPC’s operations.

This collaboration underscores a shared vision to enhance the oil and gas sector, fostering economic growth and prosperity in Nigeria.
