Represented by Assistant Commandant General Abdulkadir Sulu, head of the NSCDC’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive (CBRNE) Unit, Audi underscored the importance of preventing any compromise that could harm public trust in the Corps.
He warned officers against any actions that might enable fertilized materials to fall into the wrong hands, as they are vital to both national security and agricultural productivity.
“It is imperative,” Audi’s message stated, “that officers maintain strict oversight of fertilizers to prevent misuse.” He added that any officer found engaging in economic sabotage would face dismissal and prosecution under federal law.
National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) Coordinator Major General Adamu Laka further emphasized that fertilizer plants require rigorous security due to their sensitive chemical materials.
He noted that the training aims to equip NSCDC personnel with the knowledge needed to secure these facilities and prevent their exploitation by criminal elements, reinforcing the Corps’ commitment to the Presidential Fertilizer Initiative.
