The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has sanctioned 79 personnel for various acts of professional misconduct and arrested 12 suspects linked to critical national infrastructure vandalism and illegal arms dealing, reinforcing its zero-tolerance stance on corruption and criminality within and outside the Corps.
Commandant General, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, said the disciplinary measures underscore the Corps’ commitment to institutional transparency, professionalism, public safety and accountability.
According to the NSCDC, investigations conducted under the Public Service Rules and the Corps’ Conditions of Service resulted in disciplinary action against 75 officers, comprising one Assistant Commandant General (ACG), two Deputy Commandants (DCs), 35 other senior officers and 37 junior officers.
The offences included job racketeering, financial misconduct, theft, absence without official leave and acts considered prejudicial to national security. Sanctions imposed range from dismissal and compulsory retirement to recommendations for criminal prosecution.
Among the cases concluded was the February 18, 2026 operational incident at Rafin Gabas in Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, during which Mining Marshals Location Commander, Levi Agada, was killed.
The Corps said investigations established that two personnel, Hosea Habila and Jibrin Labaran, unlawfully engaged suspected illegal miners with firearms without authorization. Both officers have been dismissed from service and recommended for criminal prosecution.
The NSCDC also disclosed that four officers are currently facing disciplinary proceedings being handled by the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG’s SIS), in collaboration with the Nigerian Army Corps of Military Police, over allegations of illegal arms dealing.
The officers include Superintendent Tesie Victor Nnamdi of the Enugu State Command, Assistant Superintendent II Okwuruinya Uchenna and Assistant Superintendent II Obaji Sampson, both of the Ebonyi State Command. They are undergoing internal disciplinary procedures alongside legal prosecution.
Another officer, Superintendent Achor Favour of the Nasarawa State Command, is also facing administrative disciplinary proceedings following public concern over the alleged mistreatment and negligence of a teenage domestic worker, Mercy Hajara Muhammad.
In a related operation, the CG’s Special Intelligence Squad arrested nine suspects across Ebonyi, Enugu, Kogi and Niger states, as well as the Federal Capital Territory, over alleged illegal firearms and ammunition trafficking.
The suspects were identified as Friday Nnanna Ujor, 51; Chika Sampson Nwozaku, 48; Nnanna Ujor Chinasa, 45; Nnanna Fountain; Nnanna Abundant Ifechukwu; and three NSCDC officers—Tesie Victor Nnamdi, Okwuruinya Uchenna and Obaji Sampson.
The Corps also intensified its campaign against vandalism of critical national assets and infrastructure, arresting six suspected vandals on July 25, 2026, at Sabon Wuse with a trailer loaded with vandalised railway sleepers.
The recovered railway materials were concealed inside a blue DAF trailer bearing registration number ZAR 618 XT, the statement said.
In a separate operation, operatives arrested two suspected members of a vandalism syndicate, Raphael Danjuma and Isaac Zegbe, from Toto and Bassa Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State, for allegedly vandalising electrical installations and cables in Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory.
The NSCDC stressed that the misconduct of the affected personnel does not reflect the professionalism and integrity of the overwhelming majority of its officers across the country.
It added that all suspects and personnel involved remain entitled to due process as both administrative and criminal proceedings continue, while urging members of the public to remain vigilant and provide actionable intelligence to support the protection of critical national assets and national security.
