The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba (Dr.) Olalekan Ishola Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, has expressed his unwavering support to the Ibadan Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in their efforts to combat the growing problem of illegal mining activities in Ibadan, Oyo State.
During a familiarization visit to his palace on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, the Olubadan commended the Acting Zonal Commander of the Ibadan Command of the EFCC, ACE I Halima Mustafa Rufa’u, for taking decisive action against land and property fraud cases. He also emphasized the urgency of addressing cybercrime and other fraudulent activities prevalent among the youth.
The Olubadan acknowledged the EFCC as a crucial stakeholder in the fight against illegal mining, and he assured the Zonal Commander of his full support, as well as that of all traditional chiefs in Ibadan. Together, they will work towards putting an end to these illegal activities.
The Acting Zonal Commander expressed her gratitude for the warm reception and vowed that the Ibadan Zonal Command would intensify their efforts to combat cybercrime in the state. She also assured the Olubadan that the Commission would continue to tackle the activities of illegal mineral operators, who not only undermine the development of the state but also evade payment of royalties, taxes, and other dues that are vital for the country’s progress.
